Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil or butter over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic, cinnamon, and allspice; cook until aromatic.
  4. Stir in rinsed rice to coat with spices, then add broth. Bring to a gentle boil.
  5. Cover and reduce heat; simmer for 15-20 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
  6. Optionally, toast pine nuts separately and mix them into the rice before serving.
