Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk with sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture. In a separate bowl, whisk flour and salt; gradually add to the wet ingredients to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. For the filling, mix softened cream cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and chopped strawberries until smooth.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into rectangles. Spoon the filling onto each rectangle and roll them up tightly.
  6. Place buns on greased baking sheets; cover and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
