  • 1 cup kunafa dough (fresh or frozen)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1 tsp orange blossom water
  • 1/4 cup chopped unsalted pistachios (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and shred the kunafa dough into smaller pieces. Toss the kunafa with melted butter until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the coated kunafa on baking sheets and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  4. For the cream filling, combine milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Add cornstarch mixed with a splash of cold milk, stirring until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, rose water, and orange blossom water. Let cool slightly.
  6. Shape baked kunafa into cups using mini muffin tins or molds. Fill each cup with the cream mixture and top with more kunafa.
