- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and translucent, about 15-20 minutes.
- Thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or sharp knife.
- Grease a baking dish and layer half of the potatoes followed by half of the sautéed onions. Sprinkle thyme between layers.
- Mix heavy cream with salt and pepper; pour half over the layers. Top with shredded cheese before repeating the layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
