Ingredients
  

For the Tortas
  • 4 pieces bolillo rolls or telera rolls
  • 1 cup refried beans black or pinto beans
  • 1 cup shredded cooked chicken or any preferred meat
  • 1 cup sliced avocado
  • 1 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup sour cream for topping
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce optional

Method
 

Prepare the Bread
  1. Slice the bolillo rolls in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
Assemble the Tortas
  1. Spread a generous layer of refried beans on the bottom half of each roll.
  2. Add a layer of shredded chicken on top of the beans.
  3. Top with sliced avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce.
  4. Drizzle with sour cream and hot sauce if desired.
Grill the Tortas
  1. Heat a griddle over medium heat and place the assembled tortas on it.
  2. Press down gently with a spatula and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
Serve
  1. Remove from the griddle, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately.
