Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large green plantains peeled and cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste

Method
 

Frying the Plantains
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat until hot.
  2. Add the plantain slices to the hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are golden and slightly soft.
  3. Remove the fried plantains from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Flattening and Second Fry
  1. Using a heavy object, flatten each fried plantain slice to about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are crispy and golden brown.
  3. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt.
